Corporation reports
Sespe Creek (Calif.)
Note:
The Sespe Light and Power Company was formed in 1915 ostensibly to dam Sespe Creek in Ventura County California so that the
surrounding area could reap the benefits of the hydroelectric power thus generated. It actually seemed to exist primarily
to benefit the coffers of its stockholders, the most prominent of which was a gentleman named Mason Bradfield who possessed
a habit of shooting people he disagreed with. None of the proposed dams were ever built, and the company finally expired in
1921 after one final engineering report was completed.
